A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is a network of connected batteries that work together to provide grid services. When you join a VPP, your battery can be remotely controlled to store and release energy at optimal times to help balance the electricity grid during peak demand periods.
To be eligible for PDRS incentives in NSW, you must: be located in New South Wales, have an existing solar PV system or install one with the battery, have a battery between 2-28 kWh usable capacity, use an Accredited Certificate Provider installer, connect to an approved VPP for the highest incentive, not use life support equipment, and have a battery on the Clean Energy Council approved list.

Yes, Localvolts operates a VPP program that qualifies for NSW PDRS incentives and SA REPS incentives. When you connect your battery to the Localvolts VPP, you can earn upfront rebates while also participating in energy trading on our marketplace.
This depends entirely on your battery’s capacity and behaviour. Earnings vary based on how much energy your battery can store and discharge, how often it’s called upon by the VPP, and current market conditions.
