Low Income Household Rebate

Concession Name: Low Income Household Rebate

Concession Amount: Up to $350 per year

Eligible Card Types

• Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)
• Health Care Card (HCC)
• Department of Veterans Affairs Card (DVA)

Eligibility

• Must be the account holder of the electricity retailer, with the account registered in their name for the principal place of residence.
• Must hold a valid eligible Centrelink card.

Life Support Rebate

Concession Name: Life Support Rebate

Concession Amount: Varies based on the type of machine used

Eligible Card Type: N/A – Requires completion of a form by your doctor. Please submit the completed form via post or email.

Eligibility

• Available to users of specified life support equipment.

Additional Details

• The rebate amount depends on the device used and frequency of use, as some devices consume more power than others.
• A concession card is not necessary to claim the NSW Life Support Rebates; only a completed application form is required.
• New forms must be submitted every 4 years to confirm the ongoing use of the device.
• If multiple devices are in use, you may apply for a rebate for each device.
• Households with multiple users of eligible devices may each submit individual applications.

Medical Energy Rebate

Concession Name: Medical Energy Rebate

Concession Amount: Up to $350 per year

Eligible Card Types

• Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)
• Health Care Card (HCC)
• Department of Veterans Affairs Card (DVA)

Eligibility

• Must have a medical condition that makes it challenging to regulate body temperature in extreme heat or cold.
• A completed application form from the Department of Industry, Skills and Regional Development is required, signed by a registered medical practitioner (other than the applicant) to confirm that the account holder or another resident has difficulty self-regulating body temperature.
• After approval from the Department, please send your validated form to Localvolts to apply the rebate to your energy bills.

Additional Details

• Primary qualifying conditions:
  • Autonomic system dysfunction
  • Loss of skin integrity or sweating capacity
  • Reduced physiological functioning in extreme temperatures
  • Hypersensitivity to extreme temperatures, causing pain, discomfort, or risk of complications
• Secondary qualifying criteria:
  • Severe immobility
  • Significant loss of autonomic regulation of sweating, heart rate, or blood pressure
  • Reduced physiological function or worsening of condition in extreme temperatures

Electricity Life Support Concession

Concession Name: Electricity Life Support Concession

Concession Amount:

• $975.60 per year for each oxygen concentrator
• $653.34 per year for each kidney dialysis machine

Annual Electricity Concession

Concession Name: Annual Electricity Concession

Amount: Must hold an eligible card type and be a customer of the retailer, with the account in their name for supply to their principal place of residence.

The annual electricity concession provides a daily discount to eligible customers as a cents per day rate. The current concession is 184.347 cents per day

• DHS Healthcare Card
• ImmiCard (Bridging Visa E)
• Tasmanian Concession Card (issued by the Department of Communities Tasmania)

Available to users of specified life support equipment.

Eligibility

The Life Support Concession provides a daily discount to eligible customers who use an approved life support system or who live with someone using such a system in their principal place of residence.

To apply for this concession, eligible customers must complete the Application Form and have it certified by their medical practitioner before submitting it to their electricity retailer.

Medical Heating & Cooling Concession

Concession Name: Medical Heating & Cooling Concession

Amount: 55.216 cents per day

Eligible Card Types

• Services Australia or DVA Pensioner Concession Card
• Services Australia Health Care Card

Eligibility

Eligible customers need to complete the Application Form. The medical heating or cooling concession provides a daily discount to customers who have, or live with someone who has, a medical condition requiring the cooling or heating of their principal place of residence to manage that condition.

Electricity, Gas and Water Rebate

Concession Name: Electricity, Gas and Water Rebate

Amount (Summer): $1.01887 per day from 1st Nov – 31st May

Amount (Winter): $3.81699 per day from 1st Jun – 31st Oct

Eligibility

• Must hold a current Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card, Veteran Affairs Pensioner Concession Card, or Gold Card (for Prisoner of War, War Widow, or Totally Permanently Incapacitated (TPI) holders).
• Must provide a copy of the relevant concession card or the concession number along with details of the concession card.
• Must be the account holder named on the relevant electricity account.
• Must permanently reside in the Territory at the address associated with the relevant utility account.

Additional Details

• The total concession is up to $800 per year.
• This concession amount is intended to cover all utilities. If a separate gas bill exists, no rebates will appear on it.
• If there is no gas service, it is assumed that any gas appliances (e.g., hot water, heating) have an electricity equivalent onsite, thus the full rebate amount remains applicable.

Eligibility

• A Medical Confirmation Form signed by the medical practitioner is required, confirming that the applicant is receiving life support treatment from one of the following:
  • A dialysis machine
  • A respirator
  • An oxygen concentrator
  • Any other apparatus prescribed by a medical practitioner as necessary for the treatment of a life-threatening condition
• Proof of residence in the Territory at the address associated with the relevant utility account is also required.
